Building facades and structures can present unique challenges when close-up inspections are necessary. A number of conditions can make accessing a building facade or structure challenging, including but not limited to:
Building elements such as roof setbacks, buttresses, domes, and decorative ornamentation
Towers and structures with limited roof areas
Bridge construction and location
Unique structures or required location to be inspected.
Matt Novesky and Kathryn Francis of Wiss, Janney, Elstner and Associates will explain techniques used for inspecting buildings and structures using industrial rope access. They will review documentation techniques and distressed conditions encountered during inspections. Case studies will include The Washington National Cathedral, Chicago Tribune Building, and the Bridge of the Americas.
