This course highlights Ohio changes to the 2017 Ohio building Code. Steve Regoli, Ohio Board of Building Standards, will provide the main changes that have been made to the 2015 IBC Code that Ohio will adopt. The discussion will focus on significant changes to the Ohio Building Code, including Ohio modifications to Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 34. Handouts will be provided that describe all changes between the 2012 and the 2015 IBC, IMC, and IPC model codes and the respective code change number for the changes that were used in the national code change process. This information will allow code users to research directly the background for the changes as well as identifying the proponents of the changes.
Additionally, a list of significant changes will be provided that indicates the changes made to the OBC to move from the 2009-model-code-based OBC to the 2015-model-code-based OBC. This documentation will be helpful to code users in understanding the proposed code updates to be adopted and made effective later this year.
