Remember…This is a Walking and Standing Adventure
Comfortable walking shoes are a must for this tour, since it includes a 1½ mile hike, with a couple of hills, from one end of the estate to the other, with few places to sit down.
Be sure to wear proper attire as we tour rain or shine! You will walk from the Hillside building to the windmill, to the barn, then to the homes. You will be walking or standing for the majority of this tour. There will be only a few opportunities to sit during the tour. About halfway through the tour you will have a chance to sit while enjoying light refreshments on the terrace at Taliesin.
Please note:
Walking is at a casual pace, but we will be walking on some uneven terrain including gravel walkways and grassy areas. If you are concerned about accessibility, please contact Lisa Brooks, ALA 847-382-0630, no later than April 1st to determine which alternate tours are best suited to your abilities and/or what special arrangements might be made.
Picture-Taking; Weather
Only exterior pictures are permitted. Tours will run rain or shine so dress appropriately. Most of the buildings on the Taliesin Estate do not have heat or A/C.
About Taliesin
Taliesin was the home of architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He first designed the home for himself in 1911. From that time until his death in 1959, Wright continuously changed the home and the surrounding landscape, which included buildings that he had designed for his family. At the time of Frank Lloyd Wright's death, "Taliesin" referred to the home, the surrounding 600-acre estate, and 4 other Frank Lloyd Wright-designed structures.
Price: $125 Members/ $145 Non-members includes 4-hour tour, lunch and speaker. You will drive to Taliesin on your own.
