Architects and Designers must be able to strike the proper balance between achieving the design intent driven by the owner’s needs while creating a robust separation between external weather conditions and internal occupant comfort. This must also be done in accordance with demanding energy codes adopted on a state and local level.

This program will give attendees an overview of the types of heat transfer that a building envelope is commonly exposed to, as well as the performance step changes that can be achieved between non-thermal, thermal, and high-performance  aluminum framing systems.

Learning Objectives:
1. Demonstrate concepts of the range of options available to meet the demands of increasingly stringent energy codes in today’s architectural environment.
2. Review improvements in thermal framing technology, along with higher performing insulated glass units, that will increase thermal  performance and enhance energy optimization.
3. Learn how glass and glazing can be a key element of the  design team’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)* strategy.

Cost: $20 Members / $30 Non-Members includes lunch
Approved by ALA and AIA for 1.0 LU/HSW
