"Energy Modeling from Code Compliance to Net Zero"
Speaker: Benjamin A. Skelton, P.E. CxA, LEED AP
Earn 1.0 LU/HSW (Approved by ALA and AIA)
Fall Signature Conference, Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023

Description:
Energy codes define the least energy efficient a building can be designed. The model energy code IECC updates every three years and are increasing the minimum performance significantly. High performance buildings are defined based on their performance compared to the code basis. This seminar will give an overview of the model codes, options for compliance, and how to go well beyond into high performance and zero energy/carbon designs.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand performance-based methods for code compliance.
  2. Identify where the new code is being implemented.
  3. Discuss new requirements in building codes and performance standards related.
  4. Learn how energy modeling can help design high performance buildings.
