About the Edith Farnsworth House Tour, Lunch and Presentation
We will gather in the Visitor's Center for check in and to enjoy coffee and muffins at 9:30 am. There is a film you can watch while waiting. Reminder: There are only (2) public restrooms on-site.
We will break into groups and then walk along mulched paths through the woods about ½ mile to view the home nestled into the landscape bordering the Fox River. The first half of the tour is outside the home; we will then proceed inside. Following the tour, we will drive to The Homestead 1854 for lunch and the presentation.
Important! Please note:
Golf carts are available to transport visitors who are unable to walk the ½ mile from the Visitor Center to the house. There are 10 steps up from the ground to the entry level of the house; however, there is no lift available. Wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather, as the walk from the Visitor Center is on mulched paths through the woods. You may wish to bring insect repellent and sunscreen. Please call the ALA office at 847-382-0630 if you require any assistance as the staff at the Farnsworth House will work with us to accommodate the special needs of visitors.
- Photos for personal use both inside and outside the house are welcomed. There is no photography inside the bathrooms at the house and no tripods, selfie sticks, or drones are allowed on-site.
- Shoes are removed prior to entering the house and stockinged feet are required. Please wear or bring along your favorite socks for this portion of the tour.
- Water bottles are fine; however, no food or drink may enter the house for the tour. They can be left outside on the terrace as needed.
The event will run rain or shine.
