ILLINOIS AND CHICAGO SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION TRAINING FOR EMPLOYEES. THIS WEBINAR MEETS ILLINOIS ARCHITECT LICENSE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS.
This training will be presented by Jillian Molz, a labor & employment attorney at Husch Blackwell LLP, exclusively for ALA and its members. Please join us on Wednesday, November 1st at 11:00 am - Noon CST.
The Association of Licensed Architects is an acceptable education provider under Section 1150.105 f. of the IDFPR Administrative Rules for Architecture.
Illinois and City of Chicago employers must provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees who will work in Illinois and the City of Chicago, including short- and part-time employees and interns. Illinois law also strongly suggests employers provide sexual harassment training to independent contractors. Employers should use their judgment for purposes of providing training to independent contractors, depending on the level of interaction and duration of each independent contractor's time on-site.
Additionally, all Illinois-based architects who hold a professional license are required to complete a one-hour course in sexual harassment prevention training in order to renew their license.
This Course is a Best Practice for Employers...Even if you are not required by state law
As a best practice, all employers should provide sexual harassment training to their employees, in addition to having a sexual harassment policy. Proactive training of employees can prevent issues from occurring and will serve to demonstrate compliance with the law in the event of a complaint and investigation. This course will help you and your employees understand more about sexual harassment prevention and help you develop a successful policy of prevention for your company
This one-hour program is specifically tailored for Illinois and Chicago architects to satisfy both:
- Illinois Human Rights Act's and Chicago Human Rights Ordinance's annual sexual harassment prevention training requirement for employees; and
- CE/PDH's annual sexual harassment training requirement for professional license renewals.

To register more than 1 person please call the ALA office at 847-382-0630 or email ala@alatoday.org. You will need to provide a list of participants, including first and last names, note architects, AIA numbers if applicable and email for each. Each person will need to login individually to attend. Once we have the list, an invite to register for the webinar will be sent to each participant. We will invoice the member on record for a group. There will be a 10% discount for more than 20 participants.
This Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Program will be interactive and include the following:
- An explanation of sexual harassment under both the Illinois Human Rights Act and Title VII;
- Examples of conduct that constitutes unlawful sexual harassment, including a summary of employees' rights and remedies available to victims of sexual harassment;
- A summary of responsibilities of employers in the prevention, investigation, and corrective measures of sexual harassment; and
- A Certificate of Completion form for each employee/architect to sign after completing the training. A copy should be given to your HR Department.
- This 1 LU course has been submitted to ALA and AIA for approval (Note: Licensed architects should save a copy of this Certificate for renewal)
