Learn about the new Chicago building codes first-hand from Grant Ullrich, Deputy Commissioner for Code Development and Administration, City of Chicago Department of Buildings. Grant will give us key details on the implementation and changes of "Phase 2". He will also discuss tentative plans for plumbing, mechanical and fuel gas systems in 2020/21 as "Phase 3" of the code moderization. 
Time will be available for questions during and after the presentation.

Learning Objectives: 
1) Learn the history of construction regulation in Chicago and background of the current code modernization efforts.
2) Understand expected benefits of the code modernization project for design and development in Chicago.
3) Understand key dates for implementation of the “Phase 2” code modernization ordinance, passed in April 2019.
4) Understand key changes to Chicago’s requirements contained in the 2019 Chicago Construction Codes.
5) Understand the City of Chicago’s tentative plans for modernizing requirements for plumbing, mechanical, and fuel gas systems in 2020 and 2021 as part of “Phase 3” of code modernization.

Our Presenter -  Grant Ullrich, Deputy Commissioner for Code Development and Administration, City of Chicago Department of Buildings
Grant is a licensed attorney and holds professional degrees in law and architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the Department of Buildings, he worked in the City’s Law Department for eight years, handling a wide variety of matters including civil prosecutions, legislative drafting, and high-profile constitutional litigation.
