Leah Riley of Burnham Nationwide will present an update on the New Illinois Accessibility Code
Attend at NEC in Downer's Grove
A much needed update of the Illinois Accessibility Code has been adopted and is now in effect. The goal of the changes was to more closely align with the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act. This seminar will discuss the history, similarities and differences, and guidance on best practice for compliance.
Learning objectives:
1. Understand the history of the Illinois Accessibility Code (IAC) and final Code Changes.
2. Identify similarities and differences between the new IAC requirements and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), used as a basis for the changes.
3. Gain awareness of the importance of detailing permit drawings to clearly show accessibility and recognize elements that are often overlooked.
4. Understand the repercussions of non-compliance with the IAC.
