Discover examples of the creative use of masonry throughout times and around the world. Our presenter, Elena Pelstman, AIA, will cover lessons learned, case studies, and student work today.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discover examples of the creative use of unit masonry throughout time around the world, and how those ideas are still valid now.
2. Examine the work of architecture students in masonry workshops as they expand their hands-on-experiences and explore becoming "Master Craftsmen".
3. Investigate some of the infinite varieties of ways to assemble modular clay and CMU masonry components into architectural marvels.
4. Focus on innovative materials and techniques for masonry construction in several case studies, that will continue its achknowledged place as the world's longest lasting construction material.
Our Presenter: Elena Peltsman, AIA, Marketing Director, MN Concrete & Masonry Contractors Association (MC&MCA). Elena is an award winning architect, project manager, planner and designer with over 25 years of diversified professional experiences. She was a senior Project Manager on South Quarter Phase IV, Minneapolis, leading the project team on transforming a historically blighted urban intersection into a highly energy efficient design and high urban density multifamily apartment buildings.
