ILLINOIS SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAINING FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES
Employers in Illinois who have 1 or more employees must provide a sexual harassment prevention training to their staff per new workplace harassment laws. As of January 1, 2020, employers are required to train every employee each calendar year. By December 31, 2020, employers must have trained all their employees. The training must be completed by each employee regardless if they are part-time, full-time, or short-term.
ALA is offering a one-hour recorded presentation, prepared and presented by Jessica B. Jackler, Associate, Bryce Downey & Lenkov, entitled Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. The presentation is designed to be managed by the employer and is available for each employee to view independently or the firm can choose to administer to a group. Each employee must sign a Certificate of Completion which the employer retains in employees' personnel files.
The presentation does note that independent contractors who work on-site and interact with the employer's staff should be trained, but it is not exactly required, more so strongly suggested. Employers should use their judgement depending on the level of interaction and duration of their time on-site.
