This program will review contract essentials for licensed architects and the common mistakes in drafting and performance.

About our Speakers:

Josh Levy, Esq., Partner, Husch Blackwell

A member of Husch Blackwell's Real Estate, Development & Construction team, Josh has represented clients for more than 32 years in the complete array of construction services.  Josh provides contractors, designers, owners and developers with tremendous experience and knowledge in all areas of construction from transactions to litigation.  Josh also trains companies in his own version of best practices he has named "Breachless Execution."  Additionally as an American Arbitration Association Arbitrator Josh uses his years of experience as a foundation to leverage his exposure to a variety of construction challenges to help clients avoid risk in project performance.  Finally, as a founding member of Husch Blackwell's Construction Academy, Josh has worked to develop the Academy from a series of annual events to a comprehensive knowledge center.

Natalie Sobierajski, Esq., Associate, Husch Blackwell

Natalie understands the importance of simplifying complexities for clients.

Always one to embrace legal intricacies and challenges, Natalie navigates issues that arise in finance and real estate transactions by finding realistic and practical solutions for clients. She represents lenders, financial institutions, developers and other borrowers in a wide range of complex financing transactions. Natalie focuses her practice on senior secured and unsecured credit facilities, syndicated and bilateral financings, multi-phase development projects, construction real estate loans, and tax credit financing structures. 

Through her experience in real estate finance, developers and contractors have requested Natalie's expertise in all aspects of construction projects. She provides clients with comprehensive transactional services to help them negotiate favorable terms and manage risk.

Prior to entering private practice, Natalie worked as a social worker within Milwaukee County and earned her MBA.

Examine the essential terms for an Agreement including scope of services, schedule and price for providing the services and ownership of the work product.

Learning Objective 2:
Explain how changes and/or additional services are priced and memorialized.

Learning Objective 3:
Discuss limitations of liability clauses.

Learning Objective 4:
Identify best practices to limit claims during performance by providing timely progress reports, notice of changes and charges for additional services, and notice of errors.

Understand best practices for project site observations and accepting or rejecting work.
