Accessibility Code in Chicago on August 14.
Felicia Burton, an Illinois licensed architect, is the Accessibility Specialist with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB). She serves as the subject matter expert for accessibility and the sole interpreter of the Illinois Accessibility Code, as mandated by the Illinois Environmental Barriers Act.
Ms. Burton will address ADA topics of interest provided by ALA members who responded to the ALA Continuing Education Survey, February, 2024, plus she will address the most frequently asked questions on the Illinois Accessibility Code.

This seminar will discuss various parts of the Illinois Accessibility Code which will include Accessible Routes, Alterations, Additions, Housing, Toilet Rooms and the most Frequently Asked Questions.
Learning Objective 1:
Understand the history of the Illinois Accessibility Code (IAC).
Learning Objective 2:
Gain additional knowledge on code requirements for the design of an accessible toilet room.
Learning Objective 3:
Understand what accessibility upgrades are required per the IAC for Alterations and Additions.
Learning Objective 4:
Review, in detail, several of the most common misunderstandings, mistakes and issues overlooked by Architects.
