Page & Turnbull
Keynote Speaker - "Days of Miracle and Wonder"
8:30-9:45 AM CDT, Thursday, May 18, 2023
Peter joined Page & Turnbull in 2007, became a principal in 2014, and assumed the role of president in 2022. As president, he has promoted diversity within the firm and encouraged the practice to think broadly about how the work we do impacts society. In 2023, Fast Company recognized Page & Turnbull as one of the most innovative architecture firms “for performing equitable historic preservation.”
Peter’s 38-year long career has been focused on the reuse and revitalization of existing and historic buildings. He believes – and his practice supports – that historic preservation, sustainability and resiliency efforts, and society’s ability to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion practices are integrally intertwined. Peter focuses on civic projects and is principal for the California State Capitol Annex, Glenn County Courthouse, and high-speed rail projects in Fresno and San Jose. His award-winning projects include Piers 1½, 3 and 5 on San Francisco’s Embarcadero and the rehabilitation of The Oakland Monster, a midcentury modern play structure that once again welcomes kids to the shores of Oakland’s Lake Merritt.
Peter is the former chair of the Oakland Landmark Preservation Advisory Board, a member of the Lake Merritt Breakfast Club, San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR) and the AIA. A sought-after speaker, he presented on the impacts of climate change and sea level rise at the 2022 AIA National Conference on Architecture.
